Experimental Gameplay

And now for a little treat, here is something delicious that i found recently. Its a small indie game/toy called “Tower of Goo”.

It has some rough edges but overall its extremely fun to play around with. I really like it because i’m into physics based gameplay; anything where just interacting with the simulation is fun in itself.

This sort of thing is the exact opposite of what game designers from an rpg background tend to create: no rigid rules, no discrete states and no dice rolls going on in the background. Just simulation and emergent gameplay. Oh the elegant design of drag-and-drop on the goo balls as a construction mechanism! Its so beautifully simple, i wish i thought of it first!

Download it from experimentalgameplay.com and check out their GDC slides while you are there. Great stuff!
